Co-Founders

Tammy Pelstring, CEO and co-founder

Tammy Pelstring, CEO and co-founder of Obentec, lives in Santa Cruz, California with her husband and two children. Before founding Obentec, she owned and operated a wholesale business in the food industry and served on the board of directors of a non-profit organization. She has also worked in the medical diagnostic industry as a technical consultant and product specialist. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from California Polytechnic, San Luis Obispo. When she’s not working, she enjoys spending time in nature with her family, dogs, and horses. Her other interests include reading, family health and nutrition, volunteerism, and community supported agriculture.

Amy Hemmert, president and co-founder

Amy Hemmert, president and co-founder of Obentec, is a writer, educator, and mother of two. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in English. She has co-authored five books and numerous articles, and has been a frequent presenter at professional conferences in the US and abroad. Her interests include cross-cultural communication, language acquisition, family nutrition, organic gardening, cooking, and environmental studies.

Staff

Randy (Warehouse Operations Manager)

Randy, father of two grown sons, grew up in the Sacramento Valley. He holds a bachelor's degree in business from California State University, Chico. His background is in retail and operations management, merchandising and outside sales. He formerly operated a small specialty nursery and garden design business in Mendocino, CA. His interests include gardening, hiking and wildlife, and he enjoys live music and theater.

Anna (Project Manager, Community Outreach, Sales)

Anna is responsible for project management and community outreach, and she assists in many other aspects of the company. Her responsibilities include--but aren’t limited to--new product development, customer service, school programs, and sales support. She relocated to the Santa Cruz area from Chico, CA, where she attended California State University, Chico for a BA in behavioral sciences. When she’s not at work, Anna enjoys live music, outdoor activities, bike riding, museum studies, and relaxing at home.

Tamara (Customer Service)

Tamara, Obentec's head of Customer Service, lives in Santa Cruz, California with her husband and two sons. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from UC San Diego. She's been involved with gymnastics since she was 9 years old and continues to teach gymnastics to preschoolers. She has been an active member in parent clubs at her sons' schools since 1999, coordinating fundraising events and volunteering in the classroom. Her interests include health and exercise, gardening, Little League baseball, and travel.

Summer (Sales, Customer Service)

Summer has recently relocated to Santa Cruz from San Jose. She has a bachelor's degree in history from UC Santa Barbara and has worked in various aspects of the Event Industry. Summer is very excited to be branching out in her professional experiences and to be promoting a healthier, greener lifestyle with Obentec. In her free time, Summer enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends.

Jamie (Customer Service)

Jamie grew up in the foothills of Calaveras County and relocated to Santa Cruz in 2004.  She graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies.  In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors, running, camping, and spending time with her family and friends. Jamie is excited to bring her passion for preserving the environment and working with people to the Obentec team.

Joyce (Product Assembly Supervisor)

Joyce lives in Santa Cruz County with her husband, five Miniature Aussie dogs, two cats and some chickens. She is a daughter, sister, aunt, mom, and step-mom. She also is "Nana" to six grandchildren. Joyce formerly operated her own business, specializing in artistic wall finishes. Outside her role as assembly supervisor, her interests are gardening, travel, kayaking, hiking, and art. She loves all animals, and her favorite color is green!
